Today, I am welcoming Jessica  from My Time as Mom

Like so many of my new blogging friends, we met on Twitter.
She is always ready with encouragement or help, an online hug or even a great big laugh.

Plus she’s so cool because she co-founded vlogtalk, which is something that is taking over the blogging world.
Seriously, all the cool kids are doing it.

Plus she’s oppossed to Housework, which means she’s literally my twin.

She’s So Funny, Fashionable and a a really, really great mom!

I am honored to have her here to share her moment with us:

A proud mommy moment

9:15 am we arrive at the optometrist for my oldest daughter’s yearly eye exam.

She is unhappy about the time of the appointment but I tell her it should not take too long.

Doctor checks her eyes and says she needs to do one more test.

With eye drops that will dilate her eyes.

And we have to wait 35 minutes for the drops to take effect.

“Okay” I say although I can feel the dirty looks coming from the child’s face.

Drops go in and we are ushered to the waiting room to pick out new glasses.

Five minutes into this waiting game it begins.

“How much longer?”

“I’m going to be so late for school.”

“There will be so much work for me to do on my desk when I finally get there.”

“MOM! I want to go to school now. Why did you make this appointment on a school day?”

All of these statements spoken by my 7 year old daughter in first grade.

I was annoyed.

But I was also proud.

Proud that she loves school so much that she doesn’t want to miss one moment of it.

Proud because I know I did something right in raising this beautiful little girl.

Proud because she takes after her mama.

I want your kid.  My 1st grader is already channeling Ferris Bueller in the number of times she has been too "sick" for school.

  28. Jessica on said:

Already a Bueller and it's only first grade. You might need to pull out some bribery tricks to overcome that.
