100 Word Songs & Trifecta: Reasonable Rendezvous

Much later in the Gathering Buttercups story:

Lance

Lance quickly closed the door and waited for to remove her coat and nervously hang it over a chair.

“Were you followed?” he joked until he caught the flash of shame cross her face.

The carpet under their feet was rough and cheap. The tawdry, washed out amenities of this hotel room reeked of low quality and again Lance wished he had booked an opulent room for Katie instead of this budget inn off the turnpike.

“What are we doing?” she breathed against his mouth as he kissed her with a passion he hadn’t felt since the last time.

Oh yes, one should *never* joke about being followed in such situations. That interchange (his comment, her flush) made this entirely real and immediate. Great take on the prompt!

  2. Yes, what are they doing??? Dangerous territory if you ask me! :)

  3. I almost feel as if I’m intruding…!

It sounds like Katie isn’t sure about this situation. It makes me want to know about her and why she’s there.

    • HI Tara,
thank you so much for coming over and reading, it’s nice to meet you. Gathering Buttercups is a tab at the top of my blog and it’s Katie and Charlotte’s stories. I’ll be writing these two women all year. :)

Cheap hotel rooms and cheap women. Katie doesn’t seem to be that kind of girl, though.

This one isn’t going to end well, I think. I’d love to see where you take this. Will there be more? You did a great job of painting the picture of the ‘cheap’ hotel room. Thanks for linking up and hope to see you for the weekend prompt.

    • yes, Gathering Buttercups is my “project” this year. I missed the weekend prompt, but next weekend for sure and this week’s. I’m so excited to be part of your community, I love it. (and my favorite number is 3)

You actually made me feel uncomfortable with your simple, direct words in this awkward situation. Which was great.
Came from the 100 Word Song linkup.

You need to stop underestimating your talent. You are a seriously good writer and I won’t be surprised at all when you announce that Kimmy is getting published.

I’m not trying to make you cry, and I’m so incredibly flattered by your compliment. We are our own worst critics, so just BELIEVE me when I tell you what a great, fantastic, fabulous, imaginative, and inventive writer you are.

        Kirsten’s got talent, y’all! ;)

        XOXOXO right back atcha.
