100 Word Song: Be My Rainbow

Dance with me on the edge of ROGYBIV

For Indigo feels appropriate to cover the lackluster palette that has shaded my spirit.

Instead

Dye my dreams

Kiss my tinted mouth

Color my world

Circle my waist while the trumpets blare and the beat of the drum matches time with our rhythmic steps; pull me closer to you ; pushing away those cloudy days and the gloomy grey of the uninspired place below us.

Red is the color of passion

Yellow is the color of joy

Violet is the color of the comfort you bring me

Wrap me in that rainbow.

My Blog Can Beat Up Your Blog

Over at Lance’s place, he is celebrating 500 posts and recovering from a MAGICAL Disney vacation.

My friend, Jen, from Jen Has a Pen, picked the 100 Word Song: Dave Matthews “GREY STREET”

The lyrics belied the upbeat place this song took me because of the melody. I saw Katie grey and then pushing through that color to a rainbow of shades. It’s all artistic expression anyway right?? ;)

(and a poem from Katie to Lance since Marian Kent at Runaway Sentence and her book of poetry “Responsive Pleading” has me swooning with prose these days. BUY THE BOOK! )

Finally, thank you Tiina, for reading this more times than a friend should. Your feedback and help is appreciated. xo

“Kiss my tinted mouth” – Why did I totally picture Lance and Katie when I read this?! I think I may be obsessed…completely obsessed!

    • Kristen,
can I just tell you that I am having so much fun writing this story lately, BECAUSE OF YOU, like if I ever make a book (YEAH RIGHT) you are getting a place on the dedication page. I’m glad you thought of them, since Katie did send this to Lance…obsessed is good, it will keep me writing.

      LOVE YOU xoxo

Beautiful. The words you chose are very vivid, juxapistioned against the interpretation of the song. well done!

    • you know I worry so much when you come over..”Will he like it?” “Did I do it right?” “Does he think I’m dumb?” so when you do, I let out the breath I’m holding until I read your comment.

I never respond to the song in a way I would expect. EVER. I loved this color dance.

    • that’s actually good to know, when i just read the lyrics I normally go a totally different way if I listened to the song and/or read the lyrics.

hee hee…you need to fix the acronym: it’s ROYGBIV (switch the G and Y)

Fun take on the prompt. Color is always preferable to grey ;)

    • oh of course….you should edit all my stuff. I’ll fix it.

I just couldn’t write GREY while listening to that song. It was too happy in melody ;)

This fits in so nicely with your story. I love poetry and I too love “Responsive Pleading” A stunning book of poetry and it surely inspires one to prose.

    • oh I’m actually listening to a local (to her) radio station read her poetry from Responsive Pleading right now and I adore her. I’m so glad you liked this and I’m so glad I got to spread my prose wings. Your comment means so much to me.
