A man’s heart can belong to two women, while his mother’s gaze can still destroy him.
With salt in his lungs, cradling a football and his family’s secrets, he captains his life.
This week we’re revisiting an early Trifextra prompt: retelling.
This time, we’re asking you to retell your favorite book. In 33 words.
My favorite book, The Prince Of Tides, by Pat Conroy.
I love the South, I love families and secrets and love stories.
It’s got something for every “Kirsten” inside me. Plus Conroy is a master storyteller.

I sort of can’t believe I’ve never read it…
Wha??????? Never read this book??? Do you want to borrow one of my copies (I have 3)???
.
I love this book..are u doing “The Eight?” It was on my short list for this since I love that book too!!!
Wonderfully done. Absolutely beautiful.
oh thank you so much , I’m so glad that the retelling was good. Your comment means a lot to me.
Thanks for linking up with Trifextra this weekend. I have to say, I’ve never read it either. But I do very much like your retelling. Salt in his lungs is a lovely description. Hope to see you back on Monday for our 33rd Challenge Celebration.
I enjoyed this prompt a lot, I like when they have me up , reworking the words etc. Plus this is a phenomenal book, maybe put it on your “to read” list. Conroy is a great writer.
Um, I’ve never read this book either, and I think I missed the movie too, but your rewrite makes me interested!
oooh my, I can’t believe the amount of people who haven’t read this book. Esp since I just love it.
I encourage you to try it…I have a feeling you might like it as much as I do.
I just finished the Steve Jobs Biography today and just began Hunger Games this afternoon (I want to stay in touch with what my 10 year old is reading!).
I think after these two books, The Prince of Tides would be a nice change of pace. The movie was fantastic, and I’m sure the book is better. It always is. Thanks for the reminder about this book. Sounds like the perfect summer read.
HI there,
I think you’ll really enjoy The Prince of Tides, I read it..OMG, 20 years ago now, and it is still one of my favorite stories of all time. I hope you get to pick it up this summer and love it as much as I do.
thank you for stopping by, so nice to see you here.
Love this book.
Tom’s character is very relatable. The way you mentioned the mom’s gaze and the football were perfect.
This may have been my favorite 33 of the weekend.
I am happy you and I finally have something in common, it’s one of the great loves of my life this book.
Glad you liked it, thank you for coming over to read this.
