32 Flavors (Old School Blogging)

I am a non apologetic daydreamer

I wonder if my deepest, darkest hopes and dreams will ever come true

I hear my sons laugh and squabble , my mom’s voice, my husband’s love, my gut telling me which way to go
I see the world as it is and it scares me
I want a full, money-back guarantee, on anything that goes wrong in this life
I am not as hopeful or optimistic as I used to be.

I pretend I’m thinner, smarter, wittier, liked for who I am
I feel helpless and overwhelmed sometimes
I touch people when I’m talking to them in an effort to connect with the world
I worry about unexpected phone calls, bills coming due and the other shoe falling
I cry in Hallmark stores and during romantic comedies. I cry when I’m happy and sad in equal measure.
I am a conundrum; an air sign wrapped in the name “water bearer”

I understand how quickly time flies and how precious today is
I say “I love you” as much as I can…because I do.
I dream of being the person I always thought I’d be
I try to be kind, to be thoughtful, to be good
I hope and dream and pray and sin and forgive and love every single day.
I am thirty-two flavors and then some…

There Are Always Reasons to Dance: The 45th Birthday Celebration

Blog2015PMTSEliotquoteYellowBackgroundWe’ve been doing this a while now.

Celebrating my birthday in this space.

I have such wonderful memories of adding  more and more people to invitation list and getting to spend the day reading the greetings you gave me. From favorite cakes and presents to the quotes that speak to your hearts I have opened each gift with all the reverence reserved for the kind of love they were given with.

But this year is different, This year I turn 45 and  instead of bemoaning a likely mid-way point of my life I want to smile, I want to giggle and dance instead.

So I asked for a song. In the words of my dear friend, Holly, I wanted your “razzle-dazzle” song.

A hip- swinging, butt- shimmying, hands- over- your- head, white-man’s-overbite, get- on -down or get- on- up song that moves your body & mind while making it impossible for you to sit in your chair.

I’ve been sitting  in my chair for far too long.

My birthday seems like that perfect time to celebrate and reminiscence, it’s the perfect time to DANCE.

The answers came from every corner of my world and added up to over 12 hours!  (wow) of music, memories and songs that are guaranteed to make you want to celebrate 45 with me.

Here it is...

Spotify (ready to share list of all the songs given to me by everyone I love.

Hoping this gift helps you celebrate this birthday me.

Kir’s Celebration Track

Old school hits from Frankie Vallie and Frank Sinatra to club favorites from Biggie, 50 Cent and Mark Morrison. We’ve got your favorites from Whitney and Pitbull, Chris Brown showed up and AC/DC shook us all night long.

We went from country to club, indie to progressive and pop and came all the way back to disco. From one decade to the next we all found our groove.

I learned a few new songs from Mint Royale, The Polyphonic Spree, The Philip Glass Ensemble  and Jennifer Tyrnin that have become new favorites.

I learned the Gio loves to get down to some Carly Rae and Jacob prefers New Direction and Pharrell when he shakes his bootie. John opted for December 1963 nights and some Good Vibrations.

Best friends wanted Blurred Lines, Pitbulls and Yeah (3 Times!).

The song  picked more than once:

I Gotta Feeling

and the one picked more than a dozen times:
Our Taylor : Shakin it Off:

Cause the players gonna play, play, play
And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate
Baby I’m just gonna shake, shake, shake
Shake it off. Shake it off
Heartbreakers gonna break, break, break
And the fakers gonna fake, fake, fake
Baby I’m just gonna shake, shake, shake

Seems like a perfect message for my 2nd act.

There were the Divas;  Madge, Mary J, Mariah and Martina. Aretha came round and so did Donna, P!nk, Thelma and Lady Gaga.

U2 came to play, Katy Perry followed behind in pink heels and Prince finally arrived all dressed in purple.

What would a celebration mix be without Michael, Elvis and Justin? They were all invited and they showed, bringing Neil, The Black Keyes and even the Cast of Glee.

There are ROCK ANTHEMS, ceilings that can’t hold us and Greased Lightening rocking alongside smooth criminals and Mr. Blue Sky.

I realized  almost immediately that Arnebya really needed a post of her own  because there isn’t a song she’s met that doesn’t  make her want to get up and get down to those back beats . The bonus?  She and Andrea can outlast any rapper in the universe.  (this is the joy of sharing my day with all of you, seeing everyone enjoy it and sing the lyrics over one another. It was the pre-game and it was awesome!)

There are ladies that love disco as hard and long as I do…and we so we invited Chic, Earth, Wind and Fire, The Bee Gees , The Village People and Abba into the inner sanctum to get down on it.

There were stories that touched my heart from Alexandra ( about babies!) , Julie ( about friends that are like family) Kristen (about girls having fun and what her mom taught her about herself!)  and Tricia ( about making every day the Best Day of our Lives!)  Then Kelly picked a song just for us from Darius Rucker and Nicole sent me a message that sparkled with words that made me feel like a rainbow-unicorn.

We brought back the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s and tagging along behind were memories of high school dances, the backseat of cars, first kisses and first heartbreaks. College parties and our free, musical single lives. We danced each other into our adult selves.

Hey, It  still takes two to get  you into the groove and move like Jaggar.

(see what I did there? )

We wanted to see your tootsie roll and hear you scream “Let’s get loud!” just in time for Mickey to show up. He’s so fine, you see!

And while I’m sure we’ve missed a few of your favorites I’m counting on you leaving them in the comments (consider it my present!) and I can add them on and keep the party going like it’s 1999.

I’m sure you’re all wondering what my go to song is, the one that will bring me to the dance floor every time?

It’s this 80’s classic from the Breakfast Club complete with all my made up dance steps

I could move out to the left for a while
I could slide to the right for a while
I could get up and back
Right on track
But is right on track
Is that gonna get you back?

Wow, this is some party! Careful on the confetti!

Wait! Before you go …just promise me you’ll listen to this playlist today and maybe over the weekend and perhaps into next month and when you do you’ll think of me and how, in this moment

I’m so happy I could die

there is no place I’d rather be…than here with all of you my friends

And because there is always a parting gift …I’m leaving you with a ditty that promises to “Rick-Roll” you courtesy of my incredible friend Jennifer:

Nope, my friends….Never Gonna Give You Up!

…you’re welcome for the ear-worm and  Keep Dancing!

Kir <3

Just Write: Freaks

“I’m a freak.”

I was hardly listening so when I answered it was a gut reaction, “You’re not a freak silly” and I kept on making the bed, straightening the corners.

“They think I’m a freak.”

I still wasn’t listening, consumed with a bag to pack and the time on the clock slowly ticking away. However, I was still answering, “You are not. Hey, where did you learn that word?”

“They just said it on TV.” I twisted to see an episode of SVU on, which is normal in our house at any hour of the day.

“Well you’re not.” I concluded out loud, navigating the bedroom (stopping to plant a kiss on the crown of his head) carrying on with my Sunday morning duties and wondering if I should lay clothes out first or shower.

“Mommy?” he said. I looked over at him standing in front of the mirror wand in hand, shirt and argyle vest donned under his Hogwarts robe and small round black glasses circling his eyes.

It was 8am.

“Yeah buddy?”

“It’s okay if I’m a freak. I mean, I love Billy Joel and Willy Wonka of course. I know songs they don’t know and I like to make them do plays of Rocky at camp.”

I thought about what he was saying.

“I don’t think that makes you a freak, Jakey.”

But I worried.

I wondered.

Children are honest, raw and brutal. There are bullies who want nothing more than something (or someone) to make fun of and a child like Jacob is ripe prey.

Deep down I know how Jacob feels. He is a big thinker with a heart that is soft and all encompassing. He also doesn’t give a rat’s ass about how he’s perceived. He knows who and what he is, right now, in this moment.

Standing there in my bedroom I saw his life years from now as the creative and quirky kid in his class; the sensitive boy who remembered your favorite movies and colors, the outspoken twin who wore interesting outfits and took acting classes on Saturday mornings, the Piccini kid with the big personality.

All at once, I was glad that he wasn’t in public school. I knew first hand that a small Catholic class might not be enough to insulate him from teasing or ridicule but I also knew it could help to encourage his huge imagination.

“I’m a freak too.” I said to the air around us.

He nodded, “Because you love Harry Potter too? And your books? Oh and Mommy, you and me love Pride and Prejudice. “

“You and I.” I corrected.  “But yep.”  I answered sitting down on the bed and pulling him into my lap.

“You and I.” he repeated.

“…are freaks.”  I finished and hugged him close.

My “Quote-Able” 44th Birthday Celebration

There are very few things that mean more to me than words.

I often wonder where I’d be without them.

Since I was little girl I’ve loved quotes. I think I’ve always dreamed of being famous enough to have something I said or wrote spoken and shared over and over again, used as a beacon or a motivation or maybe just a source of healing for a bad day.

So this year when I was thinking of how I wanted to celebrate my birthday online my heart yearned for words. Everyone at this party knows that the last few months have been indescribable and sad but it was the words of all of you that have picked me up, hugged me tight and reminded me that love comes in many forms.

Love can be LOUD and Boisterous, or it can be quiet and reflective and inspiring.

It can LAUGH or cry, hug or just sit next to you and hold your hand.

But it’s always welcome.

And when I asked for your words, you gave me the most wonderful birthday I could have dreamed of.

Below you’re going to read wonderful beautiful words from people I love.

(My favorite quotes are sprinkled around them. Hey you didn’t think I wouldn’t add my own did you? )

Some are so funny, you’ll snort. Others are reflective and thoughtful.

ALL of them made me cry.

Words from icons and world changers, quotes from comediennes  and some others lifted right from the pages of the Bible. There are even one or two that are “homemade” and they are awesome.

But each quote was given with love and care.

I couldn’t ask for better presents, friends (Tribes) or proof about the MAGIC OF WORDS.

Mom (BFF since birth , maker of memories and smiles, first and most important LOVE of my life)

Lisa (BFF extraordinaire! I am  the Gayle to your Oprah…always Leese! Life just wouldn’t be the same without you! xo)

Marian (My friend and #heartsister) of runaway sentence

Hey, lady. Happy birthday! This is a popular quote, but it has always been like a beacon for me. I have had it pasted in various places throughout my adult life, where I would see it, and it would remind me:

I have come to believe over and over again, that what is most important to me must be spoken, made verbal and shared, even at the risk of having it bruised or misunderstood.— Audre Lorde

Julie of Julie C

Dear, sweet Kir,

My favorite quotation comes from one of my favorite writers, Ralph Waldo Emerson, who says,

” What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”

There is so much strength within you, Kir. More than you can imagine. So imagine me smiling now, wishing you a birthday full of love. May the coming year bring peace to your heart. And joy. Always joy.

Alison of Writing, Wishing

My beautiful friend,

Happy 44th Birthday! As you go into this amazing time of your life, I wish you more love, more joy, more laughter, more heart. For as long as I’ve known you, this one quote has you all over it:

“The human spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to it.” – C.C. Scott

You have gone through more life challenges than anyone I know, yet, you carry it all with grace and dignity. Your strength and courage is a daily inspiration to me, and I’m so proud to be your friend. Happy Birthday, my sweet Kir.

Tom of Cobbie’s World

This quote first came to my attention when it was attributed to Nelson Mandela. I was all over Mandela when he was released from prison; in my role as a teacher and from being a human.  I have since come to learn that he did not actually say this quote, that Marianne Williamson did but, no matter.  I love every aspect of this quote.  The line that resonates most for me is, “Your playing small does not serve the world.”  Too often, I am guilty of doing just that.  Being a Dad and being involved in writing groups like Trifecta, is forcing me out of my preferred role in the background.  Whenever I feel myself folding back, I think of this quote and allow myself to let go of my fears and anxieties, and shine “like a new dime” as the old song goes.   This quote hangs in my classroom and has been shared with countless groups of students over the past decade or so.

I have a second, much shorter quote.  It is from the song, “Street Spirit” by Radiohead.  I use this as a scrolling message on my school web page so that whenever students or parents click on my name, the first thing they see is these four words:

“Immerse Yourself in Love”.

Happy birthday, Kir!  I hope that your birthday is filled with a happiness that swells your heart.    You are a beautiful person and a good friend.  Thanks for allowing me to play a part of your special day.

AnnMarie of Tidbits from the Queen of Chaos

I am so honored to be included in this! My favorite quote ever (and I have a few) is:
“You are never given a dream without also being given the power to make it come true.” ~Richard Bach

Tara of Thin Spiral Notebook

“If you do not breathe through writing, if you do not cry out in writing, or sing in writing, then don’t write, because our culture has no use for it.”  ~ Anaïs Nin

You do all these things with your amazing words.

Jennie of A Lady in France

The Lord your God is with you, he is might to save.

He will take great delight in you,

he will quiet you with his love,

he will rejoice over you with singing.

Zephaniah 3:17

Love you!!!!

Happy birthday!!!!!

Nicole of Sisters from Another Mister

“For you my dear .. .with all my heart. You are a true blessing to all who know you, and when  I count  mine – I count you twice.

Happy Birthday sweet and lovely friend … may it be filled with happiness and joy.And cupcakes. Always – Nicole xxx

Melissa (my north star of writing) of Stirrup Queens

My quote is from the Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster:

“But if we’d told you then, you might not have gone—and, as you’ve discovered, so many things are possible just as long as you don’t know they’re impossible.”

Kristen of Taming Insanity

My favorite quote is “The perfect is the enemy of the good.” – Gretchen Rubin

Carrie of Heck Awesome!

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, ‘I used everything you gave me.” Erma Bombeck

Tonya of Letters For Lucas

The quote I’d like to share is actually lyrics from a song called “Drunken Soldier” by the Dave Matthews Band:

“Keep your head up

Try and listen to your heart

Be kind always, no matter

We all grow up

And someday we’ll say goodbye

So shine your light while you got one

Make the most of what you’ve got/Don’t waste time being trying to be something you’re not/ Fill up your head and fill up you heart and take your shot Don’t waste time trying to be something you’re not”

Great advice for how to live your life and wonderful words to contemplate on your birthday or all days. I especially like the line, “So shine your light while you got one”.

My dear friend, your light shines brighter each and every day, no matter how much sadness you feel on the inside. You are one of the kindest and most generous people I know and I am so lucky to have you in my life.

Wishing you all the very best, Kir. I love you. Happy Birthday, my sweet friend.

Jess of My Time as Mom

The quote I’m going to share with you is my favorite one.

It’s from Steve Jobs and it motivates me to stay true to what I want with my life…

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life – Steve Jobs

Much love to you and your family.

 Lou of LouCeel

My Dear, Lovely Kirsten
My favorite quote is by Anais Nin:xoxoxox

“I am the keeper of fragile things, and I have kept of you what is indissoluble.

Debi (Dr. G ) of AskDoctorG

You know that parenting is my love language, and this is the quote that inspires me most often when I’m searching for direction. Love u.

“The rules of parenting are these three: love, limit, and let them be.” Erma Bombeck

Suni (my giggle pal) of The Suniverse

             I can. I will. I am.

Nothing super fancy. Not a statement by someone brilliant. Just what I tell myself when I’m faced with a task that seems insurmountable. That can be walking across a freezing cold parking lot after a tough workout, or driving in terrible weather [my inability to deal with bad weather is kind of exhausting], or dealing with bad news. Instead of my default “I can’t”, I remind myself that I can. I will. I am.

I think this about you, Kir, with the rough year you’ve had. You embody the ability to move forward. I cherish that about you.

Happiest of birthdays, sweetie.

Rox of Unintentionally Brilliant

I love being able to share your special day! I hope it’s filled with cupcakes and smiles and maybe a new pair of heels. 😉

I love quotes. There are probably dozens I could choose. But I think for this moment, I will choose one that talks about something I think a lot of people forget. And I want YOU to remember. We are all important. And you are important to me, dear Kir.  So much love to you! XO

Mel of According to Mags

Here’s my quote that I love. It has got me through some extremely tough times and some unimaginable loss. I know that you’ve experienced a loss that will be with you for all time. But, I believe those moments are meant to make your heart not weaker, but stronger. That hole, that emptiness is filled over time with the love of those around us. It brings people closer, it makes the time we spend together a little sweeter, it bridges rifts, and it enables you to carry on. I truly hope this year is fabulous, filled with love, laughter and many, many memories forged. Happy Birthday, Kir! xoxo

“Anyone can give up, it’s the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that’s true strength.” – Unknown

Stephanie of People Do Things With Their Lives

Dear Kir,

I chose a quote from the great actress/activist Audrey Hepburn. It spoke to me of you. It spoke to me of your indomitable spirit, your kindness, compassion and positiveness. You are an inspiration to me. I am very, very  happy to have ‘met’ you online. I wish for you the most lovely, contented birthday, and coming year. The best is yet to come!

I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that others discovered the same quote, and thought of you! Much love!

I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I believe in miracles.”  – Audrey Hepburn

 Christine of Trudging Through Fog

Hello, Kir!

I have a couple of favorite quotes I’d love to share with you for your birthday. Something tells me you’ll like them too.

“I shall never permit myself to stoop so low as to hate any man.” — Booker T. Washington

“Equality is the soul of liberty; there is, in fact, no liberty without it.” — Frances Wright

And the last one isn’t a quote, really, just something I heard from a student the other day. We were talking about attitudes and life philosophies, and he shared his:

“Laugh hard, love a lot, lend a hand.”

I loved this and immediately identified with it. It seems like something you’d identify with too.

I hope your birthday is a wonderful one, and that the next year is full of love and joy and laughter.

Nicole of The Rumour Mill

This speaks to me because in the season of raising children some days really are so very long but I wake up on December 31 of each and every year and I think, Man!  Where did that time go.  Sometimes as Moms (parents) we are so busy trying to make it through the day that we get caught up in the “hard” part of being a parent and trying to raise our children “right” that we forget to sit back and not sweat the small stuff.  Before we know it, our babies aren’t babies and our oldest is turning 8!  8 Kir!  Piper will be 8 in March and sometimes I feel like there is so much I am missing because I am so busy trying to just get through the busyness of raising children and working full time.

I love you, miss you and wish I could see you. XO

JC Little of The Animated Woman

This amazing woman and I share a BIRTHDAY, how lucky am I?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY my amazing friend!

You will do foolish things, but do them with enthusiasm.” – Colette

“Freedom of choice is what you got. Freedom from choice is what you want.” – Devo

Laura of Mommy Miracles

Happy Birthday. May this coming year be a year of running in the direction of your best and happiest dreams.

“Nobody will protect you from your suffering. You can’t cry it away or eat it away or starve it away or walk it away or punch it away or even therapy it away. It’s just there, and you have to survive it. You have to endure it. You have to live through it and love it and move on and be better for it and run as far as you can in the direction of your best and happiest dreams across the bridge that was built by your own desire to heal.”

– Cheryl Strayed, Tiny Beautiful Things

 Kristin of Two Cannolli

Kir, this is my very favorite quote, and it reminds me to move on.  xo

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.”- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Katie of Sluiter Nation

One of my favorite quotes as a writer is this one by Stephen King:

“Writing is not life, but I think that sometimes it can be a way back to life”

And one of my favorites of all time is this one by Ralph Waldo Emerson:

“Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood? Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood.”

Never be afraid to be misunderstood. Never be afraid to put your words and your voice out there. You are you, and you are wonderful. I hope your birthday is absolutely wonderful and glorious because you deserve it!

Love you!

Arnebya of WhatNowandWhy

Here’s my quote, my own (does that count?) (Umm? Of course it does!)

Generic creme filled chocolate cookies masquerading as Oreos are why I find trust difficult.

(seriously I laughed for a full minute and then said, “I F*&^% love Arenbya!)

Elaine of The Miss Elaine-ous Life

“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs, ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” – Harold Whitman

I want to come alive, don’t you? :)  I hope I can in more ways this year.  I think you and I can both “come alive”!!

I hope you have a wonderful Birthday, Kir.  You are such a sweet and loving friend and I am so happy I get to call you one of mine!!  Happy Birthday x 1000!!

Kim of  All Work & No Play Make Mommy Go Something Something

“If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together… there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart… I’ll always be with you.”
―     A.A. Milne

love you my friend!

 Andrea of About 100%

When my grandfather passed away in October, some friends of mine gave me a wall hanging that reads

“Live for moments you can’t put into words.”

At first I didn’t know what to think of it.  Are they saying that I’m wasting my time writing?  Do they think I’m no good?

I hung it up over my desk anyway.

Now when I read it, it’s a reminder to look outside myself and see the love that comes from the life that I’ve built, the life that swirls around me, and the things that while I might try my hardest, don’t always have to be written down.

That some things are just better in memory.  Like a feeling, or a scent, or an experience that I won’t ever forget.

I hope you have a lovely birthday, Kirsten.  What a great way to share it with friends!!

Marie (my kindred soul) of My Cyberhouse Rules and The Web Ninja

I’m happy and honored to be included in this year’s birthday celebration. You’ll be turning 44, double digit – that’s a lucky number, sign that it’ll be a great year (how can it not be? -year of the horse)

I picked this quote for you because…

  • Marilyn is one of the best female icons I know of
  • She’s plain hot and fabulous
  • She never apologized for being sexy
  • She disturbed people in their beliefs
  • She rocked the heels – like you, and so unlike me
  • Her strength was too hard even for her to handle.

People will always remember her. People will always be in awe of her.

Leigh Ann of Genie in a Blog

“A well spent day brings happy sleep.” — Leonardo da Vinci

It always reminds me to do what makes me happy, even if that means just doing what needs to be done. Because when you have a nasty to-do list, you’re not happy. Then go get some ice cream. :)

My new favorite is actually from the song Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise by the Avett Brothers:

If you’re loved by someone

You’re never rejected

Decide what to be

And go be it

I love it because it tells me that I’m always someone in somebody’s eyes. And to go BE what I want to be!

Alex of Late Enough

This is the quote I want to give to you for all you’ve been through and especially the pain of losing your brother. These words have helped me acknowledge my strength in difficult times:

“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.” – Albert Camus

This is a quote that makes me laugh, love the world more, and accept myself better:

“I’m lazy. But it’s the lazy people who invented the wheel and the bicycle because they didn’t like walking or carrying things.” -Lech Walesa

 Love ya!

Meg of Momosapien

Wishing you a birthday, and upcoming year, full of the light and joy you bring to those of us lucky enough to know you. You are a gift, Kir and I am so thankful to have you in my life (even if it is just in my computer!) oxox.

Two quotes from two amazing Saints.

“The splendor of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not rob the little violet of it’s scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness.” ~ St. Therese of Lisieux

Friendships begun in this world will be taken up again, never to be broken off. ~ St. Francis de Sales

oh, Happy birthday, my friend!!!

my favorite quote is from Margaret Mead, Anthropologist – 1901-1978:

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

Jessie Powell of Jester Queen: (GIGGLE!)

“The worst thing about winter is that it’s so dry, my nose bleeds whether I pick it or not.” A. Nonymous, age 10

Michele of Old Dogs New Tits

Gosh, I hope silliness is okay, Kir.  (of COURSE it is! It’s a PAR-TAY!)

“I find that a duck’s opinion of me is very much influenced by whether or not I have bread.” – Mitch Hedberg

“I’m against picketing but I don’t know how to show it.” – Mitch Hedberg

Happy Birthday to one of the most supportive writers out there. Her energy and colorful spirit can always be felt right through the screen.

Victoria of 39 For the First Time

I came upon this quote last week and thought it was PERFECT for your birthday celebration.

It’s long, but worth it. Here goes:

“My general formula for my students is ‘Follow your bliss.’ Find where it is, and don’t be afraid to follow it … If the work you are doing is the work that you chose to do because you are enjoying it, that’s it. But if you think, ‘Oh no, I couldn’t do that!’ that’s the dragon locking you in. ‘No, no, I couldn’t be a writer,’ or ‘No, no, I couldn’t possibly be doing what So-and-so is doing.’

“Any world is a valid world if it’s alive. The thing to do is to bring life to it, and the only way to do that is to find in your own case where the life is and become alive yourself.”  Joseph Campbell, The Power of Myth

Eli of Coach Daddy

Happy birthday! Here is one of my favorite quotes ever, by the coach I admire most above all, John Wooden:

“Success comes from knowing that you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.”

Leighann of Multitasking Mumma
